The Markforged X7 Carbon Fiber 3D printer with the LMS steering wheel.

The first project within this affiliation, Larsen Motorsports  Director of Operations, is working alongside Florida Tech student interns to create a 3D printed steering wheel for the LMS jet dragsters. John Kochenberger, a Florida Tech graduate student, is one of the interns working on this project. Kochenberger has his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Tech and is currently studying Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Design and Manufacturing for his graduate degree. The digital designs for this product were developed utilizing Siemens NX software. Various prototypes have been printed utilizing plastic materials. The final steering wheel design will be printed with Carbon Fiber continuous fiber laid into a composite based material, Onyx. The steering wheel will be printed on a Markforged 3D printer located within the CAMID facility. The printer is the X7 carbon fiber 3D printer which enables engineers and designers to fundamentally improve manufacturing operations at light speed.
